Air plants are easy to grow, but they must be given the appropriate care in order to thrive. Proper watering and lighting are the most important components of plant care, but humidity and temperature also play a role.

HUMIDITY |
DIFFICULTY |
Yes |
Air is an important component of the health of an Air Plant. All Air Plants live off the air and will be healthier in a terrarium that is not enclosed. Place your Air Plant at a distance from your heater or cooler to avoid drying out the plant. After watering, Air Plants should be given enough light and air circulation to dry in four hours or less. Do not keep the plant constantly wet or moist. |

Lighting
Air plants need bright, indirect light. Best placed near a window (east or south-facing is ideal). Avoid direct sunlight, which can dry them out too quickly. Fluorescent grow lights can be used if natural light is insufficient. Ideal Placement: Near a bright window but away from direct sun exposure.
-
Watering
Soak air plants in room-temperature water for 20-30 minutes once a week. Shake off excess water after soaking to prevent rot. Mist 1-2 times per week between soakings, especially in dry climates. Increase watering in hot, dry environments and decrease in humid areas.
-
Toxicity
Non-toxic to pets and humans. Safe for cats, dogs, and small animals. Tip: Keep out of reach of curious pets to prevent damage.
-
Fertilization
Use a diluted air plant or bromeliad fertilizer once a month. Fertilizing encourages blooming and pup growth. Avoid over-fertilizing, which can burn the plant. Alternative: Use an orchid fertilizer diluted to half strength.
